USATF Oregon Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships

Young runners racing through a forest cross country course
Junior Olympic cross country: one race per age group, on grass, mud and forest trail.

The USATF Oregon Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships are scheduled for Saturday, November 14 at the Ash Creek Preserve at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon.

Entries open Thursday, October 2 at 9:00 a.m. on Athletic.net. Meet information, including the schedule, will be posted with the entry. More details are available from the meet organizers.

Who can enter

The championships are open to youth athletes in every Junior Olympic age group, from 8 and under through 17–18. Your age group is your age on December 31, 2026.

Every athlete needs a current USATF membership and a verified birth date in USATF Connect before entering. Verification takes a birth certificate, passport, certified baptismal certificate or state-issued ID uploaded to your Connect account. Athletes can enter for their club or unattached.

Qualifying for Region 13

The Oregon meet is the first round of the Junior Olympic path. Qualifiers move on to the Region 13 Championships, and from there to the National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships. Exceptions can be requested ahead of time at youth@oregon.usatf.org.

What to bring

  • Your USATF membership number, in case it’s needed at check-in.
  • Shoes for grass and mud. Check the meet information for any spike length rules.
  • Layers, a rain jacket and dry clothes for after the race: it’s November in the Willamette Valley.
  • Water and a snack, and a plan to arrive early enough to walk the course.

Questions go to Youth Chair Doug Burnett at youth@oregon.usatf.org.
